On Wednesday 29 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received video calls from students attending Moree Public School, NSW; and Mt St Benedict School, NSW, as part of their civics and citizenship classes.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students from Kilvington Grammar School, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

In the aftermath of Cyclone Debbie, the Governor-General made calls to the Mayor of the Whitsunday Regional Council, Councillor Andrew Wilcox; the Mayor of Mackay Regional Council, Councillor Greg Williamson; and the Cyclone Debbie Recovery Coordinator, Brigadier Chris Field AM CSC, to convey the support of all Australians for those affected by the cyclone, and to acknowledge the contribution of the emergency responders.
