On Friday 28 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Then, the Governor-General received the interim report of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry, from the Commissioner, the Honourable Kenneth Hayne AC QC.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Lebanese Republic for a pre-posting call.
In the afternoon, Their Excellencies attended the 2018 National Police Remembrance Day Service, as guests of Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police, Andrew Colvin APM OAM, at the National Police Memorial Park.
Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from The Essington School, NT; and the Wilderness School, SA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
