Open Day 1 November 2025
Government House in Canberra will open its gates to the public on Saturday 1 November from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Government House is the Official Residence of the Governor-General. It’s where she carries out her role in the constitutional, ceremonial, community and cultural life of our nation, along with being Commander-in-Chief.
People visit each year to receive honours and awards, on Official and State visits from other countries, to learn about our democracy and our constitution, to share their creative gifts and brilliant ideas, and to connect with each other and our Australian story.
We welcome you to come and explore one of the country’s most historic properties, meet the Governor-General, and learn more about her role and its place in contemporary Australian society.
You can also engage with and learn from some of the organisations the Governor-General supports through patronage, with staff also on hand to learn more from the Australian Honours and Awards Secretariat and the Order of Australia Association (ACT).
There will be numerous stalls on the grounds, making it a fun day out with family or friends.
Entry is free, with parking available on Dunrossil Drive.
Please note, other than service animals, pets are not permitted.
