Aboriginal Servicemen and Women; South Australia Illustrated Exhibitions; Queen’s Birthday Dinner; Ceremonial Welcome; President of Cyprus; Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies; State Lunch; President of the House of Representatives and female Member

On Friday 1 June 2012, at the South Australian National War Memorial, Adelaide, the Administrator, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR and Mrs Liz Scarce, as guests of The Aboriginal Veterans’ Commemorative Service Committee (SA), attended a commemorative ceremony in recognition of Aboriginal servicemen and women, at which the Administrator laid a wreath.

Afterwards, at the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Administrator and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the Chairman of the Art Gallery of South Australia, Mr Michael Abbott AO QC, attended the official opening of the exhibition ‘South Australia Illustrated: Colonial Painting in the Land of Promise’ and ‘Bounty: Nineteenth-century South Australian Gold and Silver’.

In the evening, at The Adelaide Club, the Administrator and Mrs Scarce, as guests of the Club President, Mr Antony Simpson, attended the 2012 Queen’s Birthday Dinner.

Earlier, at the Presidential Palace, Nicosia, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, His Excellency Mr Demetris Christofias, and Mrs Elsie Christofia, attended a Ceremonial Welcome.

Afterwards, at the University of Nicosia, the Governor-General met with members of the Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies, and Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot participants of the Cyprus Academic Dialogue and members of Hands Across the Divide.

Later, at the Presidential Palace, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the President, attended a State Lunch hosted.in their honour.

Then, at the House of Representatives, Nicosia, the Governor-General met with the President of the House of Representatives, Mr Yiannakis Omirou, and female Members of Parliament.

In the evening, at the High Commissioner’s Residence, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus, His Excellency Mr Trevor Peacock, attended a reception with the Australian community in Cyprus.
