Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

On Sunday 1 October 2017, at the Fairmont Hotel, Abu Dhabi, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove received a briefing from the Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Excellency Mr Arthur Spyrou.

In the afternoon, at Mushrif Palace, Abu Dhabi, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, attended a ceremonial welcome.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

Later, at Zuma Restaurant, Abu Dhabi, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guest of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, attended a State Lunch.

Then, at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of The Crown Prince Court, conducted a tour of the Grand Mosque and visited the tomb of the former Ruler of Abu Dhabi and first President of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.

Afterwards, at Wahat Al Karama, the Governor-General, as guest of the Director of Warat Al Karama, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Tahnoun, attended a wreath laying ceremony and viewed the memorial.

Later, at the Sea Palace, Abu Dhabi, Lady Cosgrove met with Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al-Ketbi.

Then, at the Australian Ambassador to the UAE’s Residence, Abu Dhabi, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Spyrou, attended a reception with Australian Embassy staff and families.
