On Monday 16 May 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and were welcomed by His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, Vice Chairman, Abu Dhabi Global Market.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Her Excellency Sarah Bint Yousif Al Amiri, United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Advanced Technology, and Chairwoman of the United Arab Emirates Space Agency.
Later, at Mushrif Palace, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley conveyed condolences to the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, following the passing of the former President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Then, the Governor-General met with the United Arab Emirates Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Afterwards, Mrs Hurley, conveyed condolences to Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, wife of the late President.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, attended a lunch as guests of Her Excellency Heidi Venamore PSM, Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
