On Friday 23 February 2018, at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, were welcomed to the United Arab Emirates by the Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr Arthur Spyrou and Mrs Britt Spyrou.

Earlier, at the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne, the Governor-General was represented by The Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC and Mr Anthony Howard QC. The Administrator and Mr Howard, as guests of Chair, General Sir John Monash Foundation, Ms Jillian Segal AM, attended the John Monash Foundation Scholars presentation ceremony.

Later, at the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne, The Administrator and Mr Howard, as guests of the Chairman of Trustees, Shrine of Remembrance, Mr Chris Spence, launched the revitalised Recent Conflicts Gallery.
