On Friday 9 September 2022, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) announced the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second, at Government House Adelaide.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Adelaide, South Australia, to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley signed a condolence book in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Her Excellency Ms Victoria Treadell CMG, MVO, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, to sign the condolence book in memory Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received callers to sign the condolence book in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second. Callers included General Angus Campbell AO DSC, Chief of Defence Force; Mr Matt Yannopoulos PSM, Associate Secretary of the Department of Defence; Vice Admiral Mark Hammond AM RAN, Chief of Navy; Lieutenant General Simon Stuart AO DSC, Chief of Army; and Air Marshal Robert Chipman AM CSC, Chief of Air Force.
Then, the Governor-General participated in an interview with the ABC 7:30 Report.
In the evening, His Excellency delivered an address to the nation on the occasion of the passing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second.
