On Friday 13 May 2011, at the MacLaurin Hall, University of Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO attended the Africa Forum.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator hosted a New South Wales Department of Education and Training School Leaders Program.
Afterwards, the Administrator received the Secretary of the Communist Party of China Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee, Mr Zhang Qingli.
In the evening, at Parliament House, Sydney, the Administrator, attended the Taldumande Youth Services ‘In From the Cold’ Fundraising Dinner.
Earlier, at the Go Cat Vietnamese War Cemetery, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Director of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province Department of External Relations, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Hung, attended a service at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.
Afterwards, at the Long Tan Memorial Site, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Australian Defence Attaché, Group Captain Matthew Dudley, attended a service at which the Governor-General read an Ode and laid a wreath, and later met with Australian Vietnam War Veterans.
Earlier, at Darwin International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Dr Jose Ramos-Horta, by Group Captain Scott Winchester ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
