On Tuesday 28 February 2012, in Albury, New South Wales, the Administrator, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as guest of the Principal, Mr Darryl Ward, attended a meeting with staff and students at Albury High School to discuss the challenges and issues facing students, including mental health and welfare.
Afterwards, at the Albury Club, the Administrator attended a lunch with community representatives.
Later, the Administrator, as guest of the Mayor of Albury City Council, Councillor Alice Glachan, met with Council staff and received a presentation on the proposed Albury Art Gallery redevelopment.
In the evening, at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, the Administrator, as guest of the Rector, Father Peter MacLeod-Miller, attended a community reception with representatives of Albury’s schools, Guides and Brownies, universities, welfare and disability organisations, and indigenous groups.
Earlier, at the War Memorial in Wellington, New Zealand, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the New Zealand Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, the Honourable Nathan Guy, and Chair of the New Zealand National War Memorial Advisory Council, Rear Admiral David Ledson ONZM, attended a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior.
Afterwards, at Government House Wellington, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce as guests of honour of the Governor-General of New Zealand, His Excellency the Right Honourable Lieutenant General Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM QSO, and Lady Janine attended a Ceremonial Welcome and reception.
Later, at the Australian High Commission, Wellington, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Australian High Commissioner to New Zealand, His Excellency Mr Paul O’Sullivan AO, attended a lunch with High Commission staff.
Then, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Michael Houlihan, visited the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Director and Head of Classical Dance, Mr Garry Trinder, visited the Te Whaea School of Dance.
Afterwards, at Government House Wellington, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Right Honourable John Key.
Later, the Governor-General received the Leader of the Opposition, Mr David Shearer MBE.
In the evening the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a State Dinner hosted in their honour by the Governor-General of New Zealand and Lady Janine.
Earlier, Mr Bryce, as guest of the Head of the School of Architecture and Design, Professor Jules Maloney, visited the Victoria University School of Architecture.
