ANZAC Centenary Year Service; Launch of ‘Genderwise Philanthropy - Strengthening Society by Investing in Women and Girls;’ Official opening of AMAZE: The Michael Crouch Gallery; Visit to the United States of America
On Wednesday 10 April 2013, at Parramatta High School, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended the ANZAC Centenary Year Service.
Later, at the University of Sydney, the Administrator attended a Golden Graduates, Alumni and Friends Lunch in the Great Hall.
Then, at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Darling Park, the Administrator, on behalf of the Australian Women Donors’ Network, launched the publication ‘Genderwise Philanthropy - Strengthening Society by Investing in Women and Girls.’
In the evening, at the State Library of New South Wales, the Administrator officially opened ‘AMAZE: The Michael Crouch Gallery’.
Earlier, at the Plaza Hotel, New York, the United States of America, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, hosted a breakfast round table meeting with New York women leaders. Guests included: Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, Ms Anne Valentine Andrews; Chief Executive Officer of Womensphere, Ms Analisa Balares; CBNC Presenter, Ms Amanda Drury; Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund and Assistant Secretary-General, Ms Kate Gilmore; Journalist, Ms Beth Jinks; Managing Editor of the New Yorker, Ms Amelia Lester; Principal of Australian American Leadership Dialogue, Mrs Julie Singer Scanlan; and from the Australian American Association, Ms Susan Talbot AM.
Afterwards, at the United Nations Womens Office, the Governor-General met with the Deputy Executive Director, Mr John Hendra.
Later, at the United Nations Population Fund Office, the Governor-General met with the Executive Director, Dr Babatunde Osotimehin, and Deputy Executive Director, Ms Kate Gilmore.
Then, at the United Nations Headquarters Building, the Governor-General met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, His Excellency Mr Ban Ki-Moon.
Afterwards, at the New York Academy of Science Offices, the Governor-General, as guest of the President and CEO, Mr Ellis Rubenstein, attended a working lunch with science leaders.
Later, at the World Trade Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of a former fire-fighter with the New York Fire Department, Mr Michael Meagher, visited the media centre.
