Australia-United States Ministerial Consultations; 100th anniversary of the Australian Red Cross

On Tuesday 12 August 2014, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received United States Defense Secretary, the Honourable Chuck Hagel; United States Secretary of State, the Honourable John Kerry; Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Honourable Julie Bishop MP; and Minister for Defence, Senator the Honourable David Johnston, before hosting a morning tea for participants of the Australia-United States Ministerial (AUSMIN) Consultations.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a reception at which the Governor-General, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Australian Red Cross, launched Professor Melanie Oppenheimer's history of the Red Cross – 'The Power of Humanity'.
