Australian Antarctic Medal investiture ceremony; Visit to Menzies Research Institute Tasmania; Meeting with the Association for Children with Disabilities (Tasmania)

On Friday 2 December 2011, onboard the RSV Aurora Australis, Macquarie Wharf, Hobart, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended an investiture ceremony, at which the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, presented the Australian Antarctic Medal to Dr Stephen Nicol and Captain Murrary Doyle.

Afterwards, at the Menzies Research Institute Tasmania, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Director, Professor Simon Foote, viewed the institute and met with staff and volunteers.

Later, at the Early Childhood Intervention Service Centre, Hobart, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Disability Advocacy Network Australia and Early Childhood Intervention Australia, and Mr Bryce, in recognition of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2011, met with clients, families and staff of the Association for Children with Disability (Tasmania).

Earlier, at Melbourne International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Denmark, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik, by Group Captain Phillip Lavelle ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
