The Australian Monarchist League; Order of St John; European Australian Business Council Mission to Europe
On Wednesday 5 June 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received the Chief Executive Officer, National Mental Health Commission, Ms Robyn Kruk, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Ms Georgie Harman.
Later, at Parliament House, Sydney, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, as guests of the Australian Monarchist League, delivered an address at a lunch to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Coronation of Her Majesty The Queen.
Afterwards, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator, as Deputy Prior of the Order of St John (NSW), accompanied by Sir Nicholas, hosted an afternoon tea to mark the retirement of Dr Neil Conn AO as Chancellor of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and presented Adjunct Professor Mark Compton AM with his Warrant of Appointment as Chancellor of the Priory in Australia, given under the hand of His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior.
Earlier, at the Palais des Académies, Brussels, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Deputy Director of Flanders Investment and Trade, Mr Filippe De Potter, and accompanied by members of the European Australian Business Council, attended a business breakfast with Belgian and Australian business leaders.
Afterwards, at the Colonne des Congrés, the Governor-General laid a wreath at the Belgian Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Later, at the Royal Palace Laeken, the Governor-General met with the King of the Belgians, His Majesty King Albert II.
Then, at the European Council, the Governor-General attended a meeting with the President of the European Council, Mr Herman Van Rompuy.
Afterwards, at the Silken Berlaymont Hotel, the Governor-General, in the company of the Director-General for Enterprise and Industry for the European Union, Mr Daniel Calleja Crespo, officially launched the inaugural Australia-Europe Leadership Dialogue.
Later, at the European Commission, the Governor-General, accompanied by members of the European Australian Business Council, met with the President of the European Commission, Mr José Manuel Barosso.
Then, at the Australian Embassy and Mission to the European Union, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a reception at which the Governor-General unveiled a plaque to officially open the new Australian Chancery, and later met with Embassy staff.
Earlier, at the Brussels Air Museum, Mr Bryce, as guest of the Director, Mr Dominique Hanson, viewed the exhibition before touring the Horta Museum and Cauchie House.
