On Sunday 18 February 2018, at Charles Sturt University (CSU), Bathurst, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Vann, viewed the facilities and met with staff and students of the School of Engineering.

Afterwards, at Bathurst RSL Club, the Governor-General as guest of the Mayor of Bathurst City Council, Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM, attended a civic reception.

Later, at Bathurst War Memorial Carillon, the Governor-General as guest of Director Engineering Services, Bathurst Regional Council, Mr Darren Sturgiss, viewed the facilities, was briefed on operations and met with volunteers.

Then, at All Saints Cathedral, the Governor-General as guest of Dean of Bathurst, The Very Reverend James Hodson, attended a service of commemoration and laid a wreath to acknowledge the 76th Anniversary of the sinking of SS Vyner Brooke and the nurses who lost their lives in the service of others.
