On Monday 23 October 2017, at the Presidential Palace, Beirut, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove as guests of the President of the Republic of Lebanon, His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun, and Mrs Nadia Al Chami, attended a Ceremonial Welcome.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a meeting with His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun.

Later, the Governor-General and His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun held an expanded meeting with Australian and Lebanese officials.

Then, the Governor-General, as a guest of President Aoun attended a press conference where the Governor-General and His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun delivered statements to awaiting media.

Afterwards, Lady Cosgrove met with Mrs Nadia Al Chami.

In the afternoon, as guests of His Excellency Mr Michel Naim Aoun, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a State Lunch.

Afterwards, at the Speakers Residence, Beirut, the Governor-General met with the President of the National Assembly, His Excellency Mr Nabih Berri.

Earlier, at Brisbane Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of Ireland, His Excellency Mr Michel D Higgins, and Mrs Sabina Higgins by Honorary Aide-de-Camp, Commander Mark McConnell ADC RAN.
