On Thursday 20 September 2018, at Berry Springs Primary School, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mrs Carlie Mamo, A/g Principal, met with students and teachers, and were briefed on the efforts of the school to raise awareness of the endangered Atlas moth.
Afterwards, Their Excellencies visited the Territory Wildlife Park, as guests of Ms Shael Martin, Director, were briefed on current conservation projects and viewed the facilities.
Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove visited Humpty Doo Primary School, as guests of Ms Louise Corrigan, Principal, where they met with students and teachers, and viewed the schools facilities.
Then, Their Excellencies visited Charles Darwin University, where they met with students and staff, and viewed the facilities, including a SPEE3D (3D printer) demonstration, as guests of Professor Lawrence Cram, Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Robert Cooper, CEO, Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation, met with the organisation’s Indigenous Ranger program and received a briefing about field research activities on the habitats of the Far Eastern Curlew.
