Brisbane, Queensland; Ballina, New South Wales
On Thursday 4 April 2024, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Mr John Bale, CEO, attended a walk with members of Fortem and representatives of the Queensland Police Service and Queensland Ambulance Service.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Peter Collins, Secretary, visited and met with members of the Stone of Remembrance Centenary Committee.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Mrs Hurley, hosted a lunch for members of the Queensland Branch of the Order of Australia Association including: Mrs Ronda Nix OAM, Dr Michael Davis AM ASM, Ms Robyn Porter OAM, Dr Dennis Young AM, Mrs Irene Cayas OAM and Mr Geoffrey Cowles OAM.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Brisbane, Queensland, to Ballina, New South Wales.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Councillor Sharon Cadwallader, Mayor, Ballina Shire Council.
