Broadmeadows Mosque visit; Ottoman Village Aged Care facility visit; Hume City Council White Ribbon Day event
On Wednesday 25 November 2015, in Broadmeadows, Melbourne, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Broadmeadows Turkish Islamic Cultural Centre, Mr Ramazan Öztas, visited the Broadmeadows Mosque and met with the Imam, Mr Erkan Aycicek, the Turkish Consul-General, Mr Mehmet Küҫüksakalli and Turkish community leaders
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Öztas, visited the Ottoman Village Aged Care facility and met with residents.
Later, at the Broadmeadows Town Hall, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor, Hume City Council, Councillor Helen Patsikatheodorou, attended a White Ribbon Day event with Deputy Chair of the Advisory Panel on Reducing Violence against Women and their Children and 2015 Australian of the Year, Ms Rosie Batty, at which the Governor-General delivered an address and co-signed the White Ribbon Oath.
