Brussels, Belgium; Budapest, Hungary

On Wednesday 27 September 2017, at Brussels National Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were farewelled from the Kingdom of Belgium by the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Dr Mark Higgie.

Afterwards, at Liszt Ferenc Airport, Budapest, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to Hungary by the Ambassador to Hungary, Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia, His Excellency Dr Brendon Hammer.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received a briefing from His Excellency Dr Brendon Hammer.

In the afternoon, at St George’s Square, Budapest, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of Hungary, His Excellency János Áder, and Lady Anita Herczegh, attended a ceremonial welcome.

Afterwards, the Governor-General me with His Excellency János Áder.

Later, Lady Cosgrove met wit Lady Anita Herczegh.

Then, the Governor-General, as a guest of His Excellency János Áder attended a press conference where the Governor-General and His Excellency János Áder delivered statements to awaiting media.

Afterwards, at Sándor Palace, Budapest, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of Hungary and Lady Anita, attended a State Lunch.

Later, at the Heroes Monument, Budapest, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Commander of the Budapest Garrison, viewed the memorial and laid a wreath.

Then, at the Budapest Synagogue, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary, Mr András Heisler, and the Chief-Rabbi of Hungary, Dr Robert Frölich, viewed the Synagogue and met with members of the Hungarian Jewish community.
