Buxton; Hill Top; Balmoral, New South Wales

On Monday 24 February 2020, in Buxton, New South Wales, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Superintendent Martin Surry, RFS District Manager, Southern Highlands, received a briefing on the impact of bushfires in the region, and the status of recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Duncan Gair, Mayor, Wingecarribee Shire Council, met with residents and local businesses at the Hill Top Community Centre.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mayor Gair, attended a BBQ with residents and agencies attending the Wingecarribee Shire Council's Community Recovery Meeting at the Balmoral Village Community Hall.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, and returned to Government House.
