Call by the Prime Minister; Visit to Katherine

On Thursday 19 June 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP.

In the afternoon, at RAAF Base Tindal, Northern Territory, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, received an operational brief and base overview from the Senior Australian Defence Force Officer, RAAF Base Tindal, Wing Commander Mark Larter.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Peter Mitchell OAM, met with servicemen and women from 75 Squadron.

In the evening, at the Escarpment Restaurant, Katherine, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a dinner hosted in their honour by the Mayor, Katherine Town Council, Alderman Fay Miller.
