On Friday 11 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Australian American Association’s Battle of the Coral Sea commemorative service at Blamey Square, Campbell. Their Excellencies attended as guests of President, Australian American Association Canberra, Mr Robert Sroczynski, and laid a wreath during the service.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Samuel Gilbert Public School, Castle Hill NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
