On Wednesday 9 May 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the 30th anniversary of the opening of Parliament House as guests of the the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Tony Smith MP, and the President of the Senate, Senator the Honourable Scott Ryan.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as part of the Sheikh’s official visit to Australia.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from The Friends School, North Hobart TAS, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
