On Wednesday 21 March 2018, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, attended a morning tea for World Down Syndrome Day.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the former Vice-President of the Republic of India, His Excellency Mr Mohammad Hamid Ansari; High Commissioner for the Republic of India, His Excellency Dr Ajay Gondane; Director, Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies, Australian National University (ANU), Professor Amin Saikal; and Provost, ANU, Professor Mike Calford.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador for the Lao People's Democratic Republic, His Excellency Mr Phomma Khammanichanh.

Later, the Governor-General received the Chairman, Legacy Australia, Mr Rick Cranna and Vice-Chairman, Mr Philip McNamara.

Then, the Governor-General hosted a reception for attendees of the National Schools Constitutional Convention. Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Flinders Christian Community College, Victoria, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
