On Wednesday 6 December 2017, at the Australian National University, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2017 Australian Command and Staff College graduation and reception.
Afterwards, at the Ambassador for the Republic of Finland’s residence, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of His Excellency Mr Lars Backström and Mrs Brigitta Backström, attended a reception celebrating the centenary of the Republic of Finland.
Later, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ministerial swearing-in ceremony to issue the Instrument of Appointment and the Oath of Office to the Honourable Barnaby Joyce MP.
In the evening, at Palace Cinemas, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chair of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, Mr David Trebeck, attended a screening of the ‘Darkest Hour.’
Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Cleve Area School, SA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
