On Tuesday 5 December 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the High Commissioner-designate to Fiji, Mr John Fakes.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea and presentation ceremony for the Australian Red Cross’ 2017 Florence Nightingale Medal recipients.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with members from the delegation of Leaders for Geelong as they undertook a tour of Government House.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Burgmann Anglican School, ACT, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
