On Tuesday 10 October 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Pacific Lutheran College, QLD, and Sheldon College, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

In the afternoon, at Perth International Airport, the Governor-General was represented for the arrival to Australia of the President of the Republic of Niger, His Excellency Mr Mahamadou Issoufou, by Honorary Aide-de-Camp Brigadier Stephen Cain ADC.
