On Wednesday 6 September 2017, at Radio 1RPH, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the President, Ms Lorraine Litster, broadcast content for print handicap listeners in the Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Junee areas.
Afterwards, at Parliament House, Canberra, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, attended a morning tea for Girl Guides Australia.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Assistant Secretary for the Middle East Branch, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Mr Lloyd Brodrick and Policy Officer, Middle East Branch, DFAT, Ms Emma Vickers.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.
Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the 25th anniversary of The Fred Hollows Foundation.
Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from St Columba’s Primary School, QLD; St Mary’s College, WA; Princess Street Primary School, TAS; and Guildford Public School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
