On Monday 28 August 2017, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the national launch of Legacy Week.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, received a briefing by the Military History Section of the Australian War Memorial.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the French Republic, Mr Brendan Berne.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Caloundra City School, QLD; and Mount Nelson Primary School, TAS, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
