On Thursday 11 April 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Scott Morrison MP at Government House, Canberra.

Afterwards, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Official Secretary to the Governor-General, Mr Paul Singer MVO, read the Governor-General’s proclamation to prorogue the Parliament and dissolve the House of Representatives.

Later, the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at Government House, Canberra.

Then, the Governor General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted Investiture Ceremonies for Order of Australia honours and bravery decorations.
