On Wednesday 26 October 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with guests at the Marymead Auxiliary morning tea.
Afterwards, at the National Museum of Australia, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Patron, the Honourable Margaret Reid AO, attended the 2016 ACT Children’s Week Launch, at which the Governor-General presented the Children’s Week awards.
In the evening, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted the 2016 Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards ceremony, at which the Governor-General presented the Gold awards, Long Service medals and Distinguished Service medals.
Afterwards, at the Hellenic Club, Canberra, Lady Cosgrove, as guest of the spouse of the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mrs Omneya Negm Khairat, attended a reception for the official launch of the Egyptian cook book, Minnie’s Taste of Mediterranean Delight.
Earlier, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Assisi Catholic College, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
