On Wednesday 6 July 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended a presentation by Mr Paul House to commemorate the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week.

Afterwards, at the National Police Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Brigadier Bill Sowry AM CSC (Retd), attended a fundraising event for the Fred Hollows Foundation called ‘Push Ups for Fred – the Puff Challenge’, at which the Governor-General was the guest counter for Brigadier Sowry’s push ups.
