On Wednesday 13 April 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received from His Excellency Dr Hussain Al-Ameri, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Mohammed Alaubidy (First Secretary), Mr Ammar Fadhil (Second Secretary) and Ms Rasha Albasri (Manager Administration).

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from Her Excellency Mrs Tirfu Gebrehiwet, Letters of Credence accrediting her as the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Negash Tesfay (Minister / Counsellor), Mr Jemal Abdula (Minister / Counsellor) and Mr Eshetu Tefera (First Secretary).

Later, the Governor-General received from Her Excellency Mrs Minda Calaguian-Cruz, Letters of Credence accrediting her as the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Nina Cainglet (Minister), Mr Jim San Agustin (First Secretary) and Colonel Ricardo Santiago (Defence and Armed Forces Attaché). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mr Luis Cruz.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch in honour of newly accredited Heads of Mission. Guests included: His Excellency Dr Hussain Al-Ameri; Mr Mohammed Alaubidy; Mrs Nina Cainglet; Her Excellency Mrs Minda Calaguian-Cruz and Mr Luis Cruz; Her Excellency Mrs Tirfu Gebrehiwet; His Excellency Mr Charles Watson Lepani and Dr Katherine Lepani; Ms Jennifer Rawson PSM; Ms Lyndall Sachs; and Mr Negash Tesfay.
