On Thursday 11 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General administered the Oath of Allegiance to the Honourable Justice John Logan RFD, President, Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal; and the Honourable Justice Melissa Perry, Member, Defence Force Discipline Appeal Tribunal.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch for the Latin American Heads of Mission.

In the evening, The Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, attended the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet Reception at Garden Island, aboard HMAS Adelaide, as guest of RADM Johnathan Mead AM RAN, Commander Australian Fleet.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Ascot Vale Primary School, VIC; St Catherine Primary School, VIC; and Sheldon College, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
