On Thursday 27 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Tim Kane, Ambassador-designate to the Federative Republic of Brazil for a pre-posting call.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Australian Public Service Secretaries Board, at Admiralty House.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Mitcham Primary School; Nurioopta High School, SA; Newcastle East Public School, NSW; and Dominic College Primary School, TAS, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
