On Saturday 18 August 2018, Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Vietnam Veterans’ Day remembrance service as guests of Wing Commander Ian Thompson (Retd), President, Vietnam Veterans and Veterans Federation ACT, at the Vietnam Forces National Memorial, Campbell.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended a presentation ceremony for members of the Royal Australia Navy Helicopter Flight Vietnam (RANHFV), as guests of Vice Admiral Tim Barrett AO RAN, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra. At the ceremony, the Governor-General presented Unit Citations for Gallantry to veterans of the RANHFV.

In the evening, Their Excellencies attended the first match of the 2018 Bledisloe Cup between the Wallabies and the All Blacks, as guests of Mr Anthony French, Head of Professional Rugby, Rugby Australia, at ANZ Stadium, Sydney.
