On Thursday 28 March 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at Government House, Canberra.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Shane Charles, Chairman, Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland, attended the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the 11th Lighthorse Regiment in Toowoomba.

Later, the Governor-General, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Shane Charles, officially opened the 155th Toowoomba Royal Show.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Kalinda Primary School, Ringwood, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

In the afternoon, following the departure from Australia of the Governor-General, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland.
