On Monday 6 April 2020, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), spoke with senior members of fire service agencies in New South Wales and Victoria regarding the impact of the 2019/20 fire season. This included telephone calls with Superintendent Martin Surrey, District Manager, Southern Highlands, New South Wales Rural Fire Service; and Commander Paul Taylor, Sale Brigade, Victoria Country Fire Association.

Afterwards, the Governor-General held a teleconference with the Co-Founders of Honour a Woman: Ms Carol Kieran, Ms Elizabeth Hartnell-Young, and Ms Ruth McGowan.

Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley spoke with senior representatives of her patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19. This included telephone calls with Mr Colin Hollis, President, National Rose Society of Australia; and Ms Shirley Percival, President, War Widows’ Guild of Australia (Australian Capital Territory) Inc.
