On Thursday 9 April 2020, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) received a telephone call from Mr Mark Jones, Chief Officer, South Australia Country Fire Authority, regarding the impact of the 2019/20 fire season.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a telephone call from Cr Carol Sparks, Mayor, Glen Innes Severn Council, to discuss the impact of the 2019/20 fire season and COVID-19 on communities.

Later, the Governor-General, as Patron, spoke with Ms Rachel Sirr, Executive Officer, People with Disabilities ACT, regarding the impact of COVID-19.
