On Wednesday 15 April 2020, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, recorded video messages for Anzac Day.

Afterwards, the Governor-General spoke with senior representatives of his patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19. This included telephone calls with Ms Janelle Weissman, Executive Director, UN Women Australia; Ms Annemarie Rolls, Chief Executive Officer, General Sir John Monash Foundation; Ms Annie Gibbons, Chief Executive Officer, Glaucoma Australia; Mr Peter Kaye AM, National Chief Executive Officer, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia; and Mr Sean Gordon, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, SchoolAid.
