On Thursday 16 April 2020, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received a telephone briefing from the Honourable Ken Wyatt AM MP, Minister for Indigenous Australians, regarding the impact of COVID-19 on Indigenous communities.
Later, the Governor-General spoke with senior representatives of his patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19. This included telephone calls with Mr Justin Scarr, Chief Executive Officer, Royal Life Saving Australia; Mr Richard Lord, Chief Executive Officer, Assistance Dogs Australia; Ms Nikki Kinloch, Chief Executive Officer, Cure Cancer Australia Foundation; and Mr Andrew Mills, Chief Executive Officer, Arthritis Australia.
In the afternoon, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley spoke with senior representatives of her patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19. This included telephone calls with Mr Tony Henshaw, President, Friends of the School of Music – Australian National University; and Ms Catherine Creswell, Executive Director, Sisters of the Good Samaritan Foundation.
Afterwards, the Governor-General participated in the Enterprise for Veterans Advisory Council meeting for The Prince’s Trust via video conference.
