On Thursday 16 July 2020, at Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley participated in phone calls and video conferences with representatives of bushfire-affected communities in the Bega Valley Shire on the far south coast of New South Wales. This included:

- a phone call with Wyndham resident, Ms Chris O’Sullivan;

- a video conference with Ms Danielle Murphy and Ms Chris Walters, convenors of the Cobargo Relief Centre, and volunteers of the Centre;

- a video conference with Superintendent John Cullen, District Manager, RFS NSW Far South Coast, and local RFS members;

- a phone call from Yowrie resident, Mr Roger Park;

- a video conference with Ms Emma Reedy, Associate Director, Operational Projects – Resilience NSW;

- a phone call from Mindaroo Emergency Pod recipients, the Willis family; and

- a phone call from Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM, Resilience NSW.
