On Thursday 30 July 2020, at Government House, Canberra, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) received Mr Nico Padovan PSM, Deputy CEO, and Ms Hannah Wandel, Acting Executive Director, Drought, National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley met with pupils and staff from Wingello Public School via video conference.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a lunch for Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr Dennis Wilson.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with council representatives from the greater Melbourne region to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This included video conferences with Cr Georgina Papafotiou, Mayor, and Ms Helen Morrissey, CEO, Brimbank City Council; Cr Lara Carli, Mayor, and Mr Kelvin Tori, CEO, City of Melton; Ms Noelene Duff PSM, Chair Administrator, and Mr Glenn Patterson, CEO, City of Casey; and Cr Misha Coleman, Mayor, and Ms Vijaya Vaidyanath, CEO, Yarra City Council.
