On Friday 14 August 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley participated in an interview with the Canberra Times ahead of National Science Week.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Her Excellency Mrs Vicki Treadell CMG MVO, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom to Australia, attended a service and reception to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Peace returning to the Indo-Pacific after the Second World War.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Victorian council representatives, via video conference, to discuss the current COVID-19 outbreak and recognise the ongoing impact on residents and businesses. Representatives included Cr Owen Sharkey, Mayor and Cr Joanne Gilbert, Deputy Mayor, Golden Plains Shire Council; and Cr David Edwards, Mayor, and Mr Derek Madden, CEO, Moorabool Shire Council.
