On Monday 24 June 2019, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were farewelled from Canberra by Australia’s Federation Guard and Staff from the Office of the Official-Secretary to the Governor-General at Government House.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a departure ceremony, hosted by Wing Commander Jason Pont, Commanding Officer 34 Squadron, at Defence Establishment Fairbairn. At the ceremony, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were farewelled by His Excellency Mr Abel Guterres, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Diplomatic Republic of Timor-Leste; General Angus Campbell AO DSC, Chief of the Defence Force; Ms Stephanie Foster PSM, representing the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet; and members of 34 Squadron, RAAF.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Wanneroo Secondary College, Western Australia, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
