On Thursday 12 November 2020, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Also in the morning, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, as guest of Ms Jenny Thompson, Director, visited the Canberra Grammar School’s Northside Early Childhood Campus.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Ian Drayton, Deputy Director, Innovation and Business Development, University of Canberra, visited the Australian Defence Force’s Arts for Recovery, Resilience, Teamwork and Skills program.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, met with students from Playford College, South Australia as the students undertook a tour of Government House. This was the first interstate school group visit to the grounds since February 2020.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley participated in a virtual school session with Ku-ring-gai High School, New South Wales.
Afterwards, the Governor-General recorded a video message for St John Ambulance.
Later, the Governor-General received Dr Alan Finkel AO, Australia’s Chief Scientist, and his son, Mr Victor Finkel.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
