On Friday 10 September 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Ms Nieves Murray, Chief Executive Officer, attended an online event to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.
Afterwards, Mrs Hurley received a phone call from Ms Elizabeth McClean, Chief Executive Officer, Allowah Presbyterian Children's Hospital.
Later, the Governor-General met with His Excellency Mr Chuluunhuu Batlai, Ambassador of Mongolia, via video conference.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Councillor Robert Mustow, Mayor, and Mr Vaughn Macdonald, General Manager, Richmond Valley Council, via video conference.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with members of Northern Rivers Rural Fire Service including; Superintendent Michael Brett, Zone Manager, Inspector Daniel Ainsworth, Operations Officer; Group Officer Peter Arthur, Group Central; Captain Mike Berry, Dunoon Brigade; Group Officer Ross Cole, Group IMT; Group Officer Robbie Graham, Group NE; Group Officer Christine Hartley, Group North; Captain Ray Porter, Woodview Brigade; Captain Mick Stain, Casino Brigade and Inspector Boyd Townsend, second in command District Coordinator, via video conference.
