On Tuesday 16 August 2022, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), accompanied by Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Jaime Andrés Chomali Garib as the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Frederike Roozeveld Van Der Ven Voeten, spouse; and representatives of the Embassy Of Chile, including Mr Arturo Giadala, Counsellor; Ms Macarena Quezada, First Secretary; and Captain Julian Maldonado, Defence and Naval Attaché.
Afterwards, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Tsegab Kebebew Daka as the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Aragie Sisay, Third Secretary, Embassy of Ethiopia.
Later, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Paolo Crudele as the Ambassador of the Italian Republic. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Sara Fernandez Carcedo, spouse, and representatives of the Embassy of Italy, including Mr Roberto Rizzo, Counsellor; Colonel Salvatore Trincone, Defence Attaché; and Mr Mario Argenio, Police Attaché.
Then, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Anil Kumar N Thankappan Nayar as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms Peck See Nayar, spouse, and representatives of the High Commission of Singapore, including Ms Geraldyn Chen, Counsellor; Ms Abigail Ho, First Secretary; and Mr Kah Keng Lim, Defence Adviser.
Afterwards, the Governor-General recorded a video message for Indonesia Independence Day.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a lunch for newly accredited Heads of Mission.
