On Wednesday 14 September 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley hosted a wreath laying ceremony in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second for staff at Government House and members of the Australian Federal Police.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley recorded a video message for the Nelune Foundation.
Later, the Governor-General recorded video messages for the Duke of Gloucester’s Cup and the Police Bravery Awards.
In the afternoon, Mr Paul Singer MVO, Official Secretary to the Governor-General attended a memorial service for Sir David Smith KCVO AO KStJ, former Official Secretary to the Governor-General, at the National Jewish Memorial Centre.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley spoke by phone to His Majesty King Charles The Third to express the condolences of all Australians at the passing of Queen Elizabeth The Second.
